THIGH LIFT
What is a thigh lift?
A thigh lift is performed to counteract sagging skin on the inner thighs.
This procedure aims to correct your figure around the thighs by lifting the skin of the thighs. Consequently, the skin on the inside of the legs is tightened again.
When will you benefit from a thigh lift?
If you suffer from sagging skin at the level of the inner thighs, you may benefit from a thigh lift. Often, such problems occur after excessive weight loss over a short period of time or with age. It also sometimes occurs when you have previously undergone classic liposuction. A thigh lift can be the perfect solution when your sagging skin is causing you physical discomfort (such as friction between the thighs) but is mainly performed for aesthetic reasons.
A thigh lift is performed under anaesthesia. During the procedure, excess skin and fat tissue on the inner thighs is removed and then the skin is re-tightened. It is usually ensured that the skin incision at the level of the groin crease runs down the inside of the leg to the buttock seam. To improve skin lift, liposculpture is often performed at the same time at the level of the inner thigh.
At the end of the procedure, a thin tube is placed at the level of each leg to remove any clotted blood. This is removed after just one day. You are usually expected to stay in hospital overnight for follow-up. In the first few days after the procedure, you may have difficulty sitting or going to the toilet, due to the seam at the level of the buttock. The post-operative pain is generally not too bad and is easily suppressed with painkillers. After about two days you can shower without any problems and after about ten days the stitches can be removed, depending on the progress of the suturing process. After about two weeks, the wounds are usually healed.
The consequences of the procedures depend on the flexibility and quality of your skin. In some cases, you get away with a scar in the groin crease but in an extensive thigh lift, the skin is stretched both horizontally and vertically and a scar is also visible on the inside of the thigh. The length of that scar depends on the procedure. Dr Lemmens closely monitors your healing process so that he can act quickly in case of any discomfort or unexpected complications such as infections, bruising or poor wound healing. His years of experience enable him to react appropriately to each complication and prescribe the right treatment.
