Doctor Saskia De Smet obtained her DIPLOMA GENEESKUNDE AT DE KU LEUVEN IN 2007 (magna cum laude), and has been recognised as a plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon since 2014.
- While training as a plastic surgeon at the UNIVERSITÉ LIBRE DE BRUXELLES (ULB), she had the opportunity to work in several renowned training centres in Brussels:
- BORDET KANKER INSTITUUT: reconstructive surgery of the breast and face
- CENTRE CHIRURGIE DE LA MAIN (Clinique Parc Léopold): traumatic and degenerative hand surgery
- UNIVERSITARY REFERENCE CENTRE BRUGMANN: general plastic and aesthetic surgery, with an emphasis on aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast. She worked here, among others, with Professor De Mey, who achieved international fame with his technique for breast reduction (vertical-only technique)
- UNIVERSITARY CHILD SURGERY KINGINGIN FABIOLA: various facets of paediatric plastic surgery, including corrective surgery of cleft lip and palate
- ERASMUSZIEKENHUIS: general plastic and reconstructive surgery, with emphasis on reconstructive and aesthetic surgery of the face.
She was also able to gain extensive experience in the treatment of malignant skin lesions here
During her training, she obtained the inter-university postgraduate diploma ‘SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE in the treatment of hair lesions’ at the University of Lyon.
Special Qualification
Dr De Smet focuses mainly on ESTHETIC CHIRURGY and NON-INVASIVE COSMETICS. She continuously educates herself in the latest aesthetic techniques through participation in workshops, symposiums and international conferences. Besides offering the various ‘classical’ surgical techniques, in the private clinic she acts as the contact person for non-invasive cosmetic treatments (laser therapy, muscle toxin injections,…).
Furthermore, she has a special interest in so-called DERMATO-ONCOLOGY, the treatment of malignant skin lesions. In doing so, she never loses sight of the fragile balance between healing and aesthetic result.
Dr De Smet is a specialist in the treatment of hair loss and baldness. She obtained the university degree in ‘treatment of hair loss’ at the Université Claude Bernard in Lyon (Fr), and is constantly updating her skills through participation in all major conferences and workshops worldwide in this field.
Professional Experience
Dr De Smet is attached to the HEILIG HARTZIEKENHUIS in Mol and the UNIVERSITARY ZIEKENHUIS SINT-PIETER in Brussels. From 2016, together with her husband Dr Lemmens, she founded the HAIR and BODY ATELIER in ZÜRICH ( specialising in hair transplants and liposculpture) and together they are responsible for the FACE ATELIER in ZÜRICH ( specialising in facial wrinkle correction). The latter 2 centres are part of the renowned PYRAMIDE AM SEE KLINIK in ZÜRICH.
In association with Dr Lemmens, fellow plastic surgeon, she founded the BELLEVUE CLINIC in Schilde and Mol. Here she can devote herself fully to her passion, aesthetic surgery and cosmetic medicine tailored to the individual.
