LASER LIPOLYSIS

What is laser lipolysis?

Unlike traditional liposuction, laser lipolysis does not use suction. Instead, the laser ensures that the fat becomes liquid, after which the liquefied fat is led out of the body through small incisions of 1 to 2 millimeters. Laser lipolysis is safer and gentler on the skin than liposuction and scarring is less likely to occur as the incisions are smaller. This method also generates heat, which stimulates the healing process and tightens and smoothes the skin in the treated body area. This while with liposuction the skin often becomes loose and liposculpture becomes inevitable afterwards.

When do you benefit from laser lipolysis?

If you suffer from fat accumulation, you are eligible for this treatment. You do need to make sure that you are not overweight, in relatively good health and have been at a fairly stable weight for more than a year. It is also important that the skin is still elastic enough in the treated areas.

The procedure is especially popular and effective for restoring a tight jawline in the face and removing the so-called ‘double chin’.

Since it is a superficial surgical procedure in combination with laser, you will be properly examined and informed before the treatment. To limit the number of risks, Dr. Lemmens first determines whether you are a suitable candidate for this procedure and checks whether you meet a number of conditions.

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia.

One to two days after the treatment, one may still experience pain and discomfort. This can easily be suppressed with a simple painkiller. Most patients are completely back to their old self after one day.

The risks and possible side effects of the procedure are similar to most surgical procedures. Possible complications include bruising, infection, blood accumulation and scarring. Very rare complications are burns or bleeding.
