ARM LIFT
What is an arm lift?
An arm lift is an aesthetic surgical procedure that corrects loose skin and excessive fatty tissue at the level of the upper arm. There are several methods to address this problem, each with its specific advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, once again, you will be well informed by our team and we will work with you to find the most suitable solution for your specific situation and according to your wishes and desires.
When will you benefit from an arm lift?
Skin sagging and excessive development of fatty tissue (in this case at the level of the upper arm) often occurs after excessive weight loss in a short period of time or after a procedure such as a stomach reduction or the placement of a stomach ring. In such cases, a surgical arm lift may be considered.
An arm lift is a procedure performed in our private clinic under local anaesthesia. In an arm lift, an incision is made starting from the armpit over the inside of the upper arm and up to the elbow.
Usually, patients experience little discomfort from having excess fatty tissue and excess skin surgically removed. The pain afterwards is usually bearable or treatable with painkillers. Suturing of the incision is mostly done subcutaneously and the sutures can be removed after about three weeks. The first few days after the procedure, the scars may cause a pulling sensation and the arms may be somewhat swollen due to wound fluid and bruising. About six weeks after surgery, you will be able to resume intensive sports again. Finally, you will also be given tips and advice and the right products for optimal wound care for the best possible healing of the scars.
This procedure may cause scars on the inside of the upper arm. How noticeable these are depends on your skin type. Noticeable scars are not always easy to camouflage. Therefore, the pros and cons and the extent to which you suffer from excess skin and fat accumulation are carefully weighed and weighed beforehand, and it is thoroughly discussed whether the procedure is a good choice for you.
For young people with skin that is still elastic, there is a good alternative to removing fat deposits in the upper arms: liposculpture. This technique also ensures that excess fat is removed, only with young, elastic skin you can count on it to spontaneously adapt to the new arm volume. Liposculpture can be performed under local anaesthesia. Then there are radiofrequency techniques that do not require an incision and ‘melt away’ the fat, so to speak, while tightening the skin at the same time. It is suitable for all skin types, gives immediate results after a half-hour to two-hour treatment and can be performed without anaesthesia.
